The Journey
I first began designing around 8, hand sewing clothes for dolls, particularly Barbie and developed a love for all things creative and then as a teen, making a portion of my own wardrobe. I can attribute this to my mum who was always creating, sewing and was constantly renovating with Dad the many homes we lived in.
In my early teens, I was fortunate to be taught by Betty Scott out at her studio in Burramine on how to paint with oils and then in my late teens Mum and Dad offered me three opportunities , to go to Boarding School, Fashion Design in Melbourne or Travel on Student Exchange.
I chose to travel to Canada to a small island of Newfoundland to further my Art experience and maybe even get into New York from there.
Great plan, didn't work out that way. I fell in love, with a Canadian, came home, was all too hard and fell for an Aussie (now husband) and from 1991 to 2020 I focused on making a living and raising my 4 awesome cherubs.
Over the 30 year break- I learned many new creative skills including, yet not limited to, home renos, construction of water tanks, decorating furnishings around the home including sewing bedspreads and the like., I am as comfortable with a drill in my hand as I am with a brush, hence all of the original canvas frames were originally made by me!
In 2018 my love of the arts was rekindled.
It was when spending time in the Art Series- Royal Childrens Hospital accommodation, that I was re introduced to Ken Done and Jenny Kees work- also Prue Acton design.
All of the material on offer was like a shot back to the 80's and of dreams not lived out!!
I spent the weekend learning of self mastery while also indulging myself for the first time in years, of what it would be like just to paint and create.
It was a another 8 months or so before I started to actually put pen or paint to work and the gears really shifted with Covid19, and the closure of my business of 14 years.
I sat for about 3 months pondering on what to do and decided to finish the painting I promised my Nan I would do for her over 20 years ago. It was pure joy seeing and feeling it come together.

From there evolved "Truly Pruly". (Pruly being an old Nickname from a time when I was going to change the world)
I want to create art that brings the same joy to others.
My intention is to always create from the heart with my motto being "Heart to Art" because it is an unreal feeling that comes from seeing the painting unfold and I love it when my hand is doing things that my head has no idea why, this is when the magic happens.
It is my wish that my art and story can inspire others to lead their own lives in their truest forms and share their own light with love.
I am truly enjoying the process now and really feeling the pictures come to life.
As I grow and change as an artist it is my mission to always connect through Art to other humans and for them to truly feel and/or heal through that connection.
I am not here to conform or disrupt, fight or submit, I am here to be free & flow.
